How should a complete beginner start learning forex trading?

Arjun Das Asked 25 days ago 2.8K views

I have never traded before and I keep seeing videos that promise quick profits. What is a sensible way to start without losing my savings?

A simple path that works for most people:

  • Learn the basics first: currency pairs, pips, lots, leverage and spreads.
  • Open a demo account and practise for at least two or three months.
  • Pick one or two pairs and one simple strategy. Do not jump between systems.
  • Risk no more than 1% of your account on a single trade.
  • Keep a journal of every trade, with a screenshot and the reason you took it.

Only move to a small live account when your demo results are steady and you follow your rules every time. Ignore anyone who promises quick profits.

Thank you. I will start with a demo account and a journal.

Please set your expectations early. Most beginners lose money in the first year, and that is normal. Treat trading as a skill that takes time, not as a way to earn quickly.

Never use money you need for rent, loans or emergencies, and stay away from signal sellers who promise fixed returns. Spend your first months learning risk management, because it protects you while you learn everything else.
